baristas know how to break it down

Yesterday I had so much fun shooting (and later being relieved of my camera so I could eat and dance a little too!) Emory and Eric’s wedding at Norris Dam State Park. I’ve worked with Eric at Starbucks for the past couple of years- that is, til they moved up to Massachusetts and abandoned us!- and I can honestly say I have met few people as genuinely nice, caring, responsible, and hardworking as he is. You feel instantly at ease around him, as if you’ve been rolling cigarettes and drinking beer with him your entire life. And the more we worked together, the more I got to know and love Emory just as much. They are truly a fantastic couple. So laidback, hilarious, and fun… the kind of people you actually ENJOY socializing with! They met through Starbucks (she was the barista, he was the customer… and then became a barista himself) and have become an integral part of the Starbucks network here in Knoxville. For those of you who don’t know, Starbucks gave me not only Jamie, but also almost every single one of my friends, the best friends I’ve made over the past four years. I don’t know what the magic is. I mean, half the time we’re together is spent griping about how much we hate it, and yet it’s what has brought us all together. I love it. Which brings me to how much I LOVE parties with my Starbucks friends. When you see the pictures of the reception, you’ll probably recognize a lot of people who were also at our wedding last June and who know how seriously par-tay. Highlight of the night for me: group singalong to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin.’”

So I’ve only just finished actually uploading all the pictures I took (almost 6000… my external hard drive is crying in pain right now), but I had to give you a little sneak peek, because I know there will be some curious people checking up on me. :) I’ve also got their engagement session fully edited, I just need to slideshow it up and you’ll be able to see that soon too.

This morning Jamie and I woke up feeling pretty rough, so we’ve been taking it easy courtesy of El Charro’s unbelievable chicken soup and Slumdog Millionaire (I know, I know, FINALLY, right? But it was so worth the wait. Next time you see Jamie, you should punch him in the face for falling asleep halfway through. I mean, what the heck?!) I’m hoping I’ll be back to full energy tomorrow so I can keep up with Miss Harper and get my editing on.

But for now:

Oh, how you know me so well. I was TOTALLY one of those curious people. Love the first pic you shared; can’t wait to see the rest. ; )

babies and birthdays galore

This past weekend was my (second?) cousin Anna Kate’s first birthday (she’s the daughter of my cousins Tyler and Elisa). Elisa did an awesome job of coordinating all of the adorable decorations and details, from the pink and green pom-poms to Anna Kate’s specially-made birthday dress, I think from etsy (btw, if you do not already know and love etsy, you should probably get on a first-name basis right now. Buy handmade!) And what a precious baby she is with that blonde hair and those big blue eyes. I could just eat her up! So if you’re interested, you can watch the slideshow of the party here, featuring one of my new favorite songs by switchfoot .

But this spring, and April in particular, is a crazy-busy season for the stork, apparently. My other second-cousin, Caroline, was born to my cousins Jeff and Ellen April 2. I can’t wait to meet her too! And it was also, of course, Harper’s birthday April 3…. and then one of my best friends Megan is due to have a baby boy in August! Whew. It’s exhausting just THINKING about all those babies. I’m so glad to have them in my life though, because it makes it so easy for me to get my baby fix without running out and getting my own. (Don’t get your hopes up- it won’t be happening for a LONG time.) So until then I can buy itty-bitty shoes that are like two inches long and spend an hour oohing and aahing in the kids department at Target…. for other people. Yay other people!

Oh, and lest I forget my favorite pregant-lady-who-lives-in-Salt-Lake-City-and-whom-I’ve-never-met-but-stalk-online-five-hundred-times-a-day, Heather B. Armstrong, who is due in June (I refuse to admit that I know the ACTUAL due date and have followed the baby bump progress the whole way through), I can’t wait to see pictures of her wee one. Or perhaps SEE her in the grocery store somewhere in Utah. And now that you probably think I have google-mapped every grocery store in the remote vicinity of SLC, I will leave it at that.

Reading some Harry Potter for the millionth time (yes, I’m trying to get through all the books again before the next movie comes out, which was pushed back for Twilight- what a joke!) is calling my name…. Well, maybe that and a few zzzzs….
