Candace and Trey | Engaged

Last Sunday, after meeting up with my cousins Lindsay and Michael and their friends Liz and Patrick for a yummy brunch at Mad Donna’s in a super cute East Nashville neighborhood, I headed downtown to meet another cousin Candace and her fiancé Trey to shoot their engagement session. (You’ll notice I use the term “cousin” pretty loosely. I do have ten blood-related cousins, but I also consider all their spouses, and all of Jamie’s cousins and THEIR spouses, my cousins too. It’s just easier that way. Candace is actually my mom’s cousin, which I think makes her my second cousin, but you know. I bet all y’all think we’re all cousins here in the South anyway, don’t ya? ;) )

ANYWAY. It’s been YEARS since I last saw Candace, so I was so excited when she contacted me a little while ago about shooting her wedding in May. She and Trey are so cute together. I guess you’re not supposed to use terms like “cute” to describe military men, but whatevs. They’re cute! And again, I majorly lucked out in getting to shoot a couple with such great attitudes, because like Brittany and Justin’s session the day before, it was pretty dark, freezing cold, and all around yucky outside. (Thankfully we were at least spared the sheets of rains blowing all over the place for this one!) They handled it like champs! Although I will say, this kind of weather is pretty conducive to snuggling, so that definitely helps. :)

Being in Nashville this past weekend made me fall in love with Tennessee all over again. It’s crazy that I lived in and around there until 3rd grade (when my family moved to Knoxville), and have ever since gone back for many holidays and weekend trips to visit all of our extended family, who still live there… And I still couldn’t figure out how the heck to get around. I’m one of those people who totally zones out when I’m not driving, and therefore find myself getting completely lost in places I’ve been a thousand times with other people. But I feel like I got to see a lot of the city that I had never noticed before, and I really, really love it. So much to do and see, so much interesting culture and music. If you haven’t been, you should go!

But I’m getting off track again. Back to Candace and Trey:

Does she not have the most gorgeous eyes? UGH! Also, I love nose rings. Don’t tell my mom.

I love capturing these kinds of “looks.”

We then headed to Broadway, which is pretty much the center of all the action. You’ll find Nashville staples like the Ryman (my favorite music venue of all time and the former home of the Grand Ole Opry), the Country Music Hall of Fame, Hatch Show Print, and about a billion honky-tonk bars and instrument shops nearby.

Guh-orgeous.

Also, there are street musicians all over the place. Some are actually REALLY good. I love that this dude started serenading Candace and Trey… with a worship song. Ha.

Cadillac Ranch… where they met. :)

So very Nashville. I love it.

And finally…. who doesn’t love a good turquoise wall? I know I do.

Again, thank you guys so much for being such great sports and for hanging out with me and showing me around! I can’t wait for your wedding!

Morgan - outstanding work. Candace Brook looks absolutely beautiful! Seems like yesterday I was holding her as a baby. Funny to think that she is only a couple of years older than you. I can’t wait to see her on her wedding day. Love you much, Mom
