A Birthday in iPhone Photos

Well, it’s official. As of yesterday, I’m a quarter of a century old. The big 2-5. Twenty-five…. really? Already? It just doesn’t seem possible. I guess I could have technically considered myself a grownup seven years ago when I turned 18, but I still don’t feel like one. Maybe when I turn 30. Oh Lord…. 30… yikes.

This year Jamie and I went to Houston to celebrate with his parents, and our visit just so happened to coincide with the 2011 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Oh yeah, it’s a big deal. So last Friday we headed out and enjoyed a day full of fair rides, petting zoos (with baby deer and kangaroos and goats!), and fried food (I skipped the fried Twinkies), followed by the big rodeo (where I was introduced to a pretty amazing thing called mutton busting) and a concert featuring Lady Antebellum (you know, the ones who took home like eight gajillion Grammys this year). It was such a great day, which unfortunately was followed by my mother-in-law getting some sort of bacterial infection from something she ate there. :( She had to go to the ER and get put on an IV on Saturday and spent the rest of the day on the couch. So sad! But yesterday she felt better, so we went out to lunch at Gringo’s for my birthday, where I stupidly left my ID at home and therefore couldn’t get a margarita, but they surprised me with a virgin strawberry daiquiri and a happy birthday song performed by about twenty servers. So yeah…. pretty good day. And a good weekend all around! And now, enjoy a recap in iPhone photos, courtesy of my favorite, the ShakeIt app.

I think birthdays are one of my absolute favorite things in the whole world. Love the pics, and I’m so glad that you had a wonderful day! By the way, I’m about 10 months away from that big 3-0, so let’s just keep that “yikes” to yourself ;)
