Ashley and Nick met as Industrial Design students at Auburn, and they told me about how they struck up a friendship by always being the last ones in the studio late at night and always bumping into each other on campus. (I have a sneaky feeling it wasn’t always coincidence that they ran into each other. ;) ) Next thing you know, Nick is calling Ashley out in a bar to get up and sing “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” with him, and the rest, they say, is history. Now they’re planning their wedding for next May (on Cinco de Mayo, no less!), and I can’t wait to shoot it.
These two are such a sweet and fun couple, and we’ve been mutually excited about working with each other pretty much since the initial inquiry they sent me. When we started talking about ideas for their engagement session, the crazy textures and lines of downtown Birmingham seemed like a perfect fit for their industrial design-loving sensibilities. I’m so glad they were up for an early morning session (we’re talking 7am early!), because the light was absolute perfection as we romped around Railroad Park and other pockets of the city. Hope you guys enjoy this colorful, fun, urban session!
Oh, and that “You Are Beautiful” graffiti they’re standing in front of? It’s part of a city-wide campaign. I remember the first time I saw it pop up on the Highland Ave bridge over 31… it made my heart so happy. It’s really cool to see such a positive message in all sorts of unexpected places around town. Aaaand it makes for a pretty perfect engagement session backdrop. ;)
Yep, these two are FUN.
… And also pretty darn good-looking!
Nick and Ashley, thank you for such a great morning! Can’t WAIT for your wedding!

WONDERFUL job with these Morgan! I love their design story and how relaxed these images feel. This looks like a fun one to have shot!
LOVE THESE!!! Y’all look great!!!!
As usual, they are awesome! I love this last one, and especially your decision to make it black and white. I just want to keep looking at it. I don’t know if I’d feel the same way if it were in color. I love the graffiti shots, but also…that purplish dress she is wearing is awesome! Beautiful!
