Mary Beth + David | A Modern, Colorful, Alabama Farm Engagement

As I drove along the country roads out to Sterrett, AL to get to Mary Beth and David’s farm, I couldn’t help but roll my windows down, turn the music up, and soak in the gorgeous almost-fall weather. I knew it was going to be a great engagement session, and I was NOT disappointed. I’m sure they thought I was a complete nut when I came into the farmhouse on the property and immediately started geeking out about how adorable and charming their home was. But I couldn’t help myself! Between the house, and the farm, and just how ridiculously cute they looked together, I was in photography heaven. :)

I initially met Mary Beth back in January at the bridal show I did. She is that quintessential sweet southern girl, but I love how she also has a sarcastic sense of humor and impeccable design taste. I’ve also come to discover that she’s one of those people who knows everyone. She has, in a sense, taken me under her wing and introduced me to all sorts of people she knows at Southern Living, Birmingham Magazine, etc. She’s just sweet like that. :) And then when I met David the day of their session, I saw how perfect they are for each other. He’s the strong and soft spoken type, and would have much rather been working on his land than having me take his photograph. Fortunately, nervous though they were (and they had NO reason to be with all that good-looking-ness!), they obliged me in all my crazy giddiness, and we ended up having a fantastic afternoon.

Enjoy!

We just HAD to incorporate the chickens in the shoot. Obviously. :)

I also kind of forced them into letting me photograph the inside of their home. You’re about to see why. ;)

Mary Beth and David, thank you so much for graciously inviting me to your home and allowing me to capture a slice of your life. I can’t WAIT for the wedding!

WHOA. One of my favorite sessions of yours. Ever. Is it weird to have a crush on a couple? Because I so kind of do. ;)

I can see why you were swooning over their lovely farm and home! And they are such beautiful, stylish, and down-to-earth people. I love how you captured their love and life. I can’t wait to see their wedding! - That shot looking through the tree! LOVE! And the ones in the barn windows! And with the flowers! Oh, I could exclaim over every shot right here, but that would take too long!
