Rachel | Class of 2012

When Rachel’s mom Tracey originally contacted me about doing her senior portraits, she described Rachel as the quintessential Southern girl. She comes from a family who LOVES sports, so when they told me she got accepted to Troy University on a softball scholarship, I wasn’t surprised. But what I love about Rachel is that she is also very much a girly girl, so we had a ton of fun during her session. We started at Warrior Park, where she has grown up playing softball, and then we drove a few minutes down the road into the town of Helena, which has no shortage of adorable little shops, front porches, and all-around Southern charm. The usual summer afternoon storm rolled in right in the middle of the session, but, as always, moved through quickly. Our only other minor crisis was the fact that I stepped into a giant colony of fire ants…. while wearing sandals…. but I was too excited about all of Rachel’s cute outfits and the fantastic locations to worry about it too much. :)

Enjoy!

Rachel is seriously, SERIOUSLY gorgeous, no?

As we were finishing the session, I told Rachel’s mom and grandmother (who was also along for the ride) that somehow, the last look and location of a session always ends up being my favorite. I don’t know how or why that happens, but in this case, it had everything to do with this old yellow pickup truck we stumbled on and the nice guy who let us use it for some shots. It fit Rachel’s personality so well…. we couldn’t have asked for anything better!

You wanted photographic proof of the fire ant attack? BOOM:

Oh Morgan! I saw the picture on facebook and it just makes me feel bad. I HATE bug bites, I can only image… but, on the bright side, My Goodness you’re the bomb! This pictures are insanely beautiful. You have such a fenomenal eye! Were you using primarily the 35mm? The DOF is insane :) Kudos my friend!

You really picked an awesome image to end with. Boom foot attack! It’s like southern charm turned horror movie. But in seriousness, I LOVE the shot of Rachel laying with her bat & glove around her. And I love that people still get lettermen jackets, I worried that the tradition was dead.

Are you rocking a tilt shift now?? Looks awesome! And I LOVE the ones you got of her shooting from up high while she’s lying in the grass… FAVE.

Yes! The hat and the boots and the jeans and the buckle just wouldn’t be the same without that yellow truck! I love those serendipitous occurrences during a photo shoot. You didn’t know that you needed a yellow truck until you saw it and then, when you did, you realized that you couldn’t have planned it any better! - My other faves are the lying on the grass ones and the tilt shift ones. Too cool! And Rachel is gorgeous!!! - You foot looks horrible! I know you had to be in pain! I hope it is better now!
