Katie and Patrick // A Lake Martin Wedding

This summer I’ve gotten to second shoot some pretty amazing weddings in addition to my own, so I’m excited to be sharing one of them with you today. A couple of weekends ago, I headed down to Lake Martin with Kelly to shoot Katie and Patrick’s gorgeous summer lakeside wedding, and it has definitely been one of my favorites to date. You can check out Kelly’s recap of the day here, so go check it out! In the meantime, here are a few of my favorites.

We began the day at the SpringHouse restaurant, where the bridesmaid brunch was held. I have to say, this is one of those Southern wedding traditions that I’m growing to love, because I think it’s so nice to start the day out by just relaxing and eating with your closest friends and family before all the chaos sets in. Plus, Katie’s aunt did an amazing job with the decor.

We then headed to the Hank Williams Cabin near the gorgeous white church on the water where the ceremony was held. I was totally giddy about all the fun retro cabin-esque things to photograph and incorporate into detail shots, as you’ll be able to tell from my inability to narrow them down to a reasonable number.

I was able to sneak Katie and Patrick out to the cabin’s porch for some last minute portraits (separately, because they decided not to see each other before the ceremony) and they’re some of my favorite shots of the day. That was one of the hottest, most humid days we’ve had all year, but you’d never know it by looking at the photos of Katie, who was fresh as a daisy the whole time.
The reception was held at Katie’s parents’ lake house nearby, which looked like something out of Southern Living magazine.
There miiiiight’ve been a yellow jacket attack during the first dance. Ack! But I love Katie’s reaction here. :)
Congratulations Katie and Patrick, and big thanks to Kelly for having me along!

Rachel - My favorite shot is the one of the little girl with her finger up her nose. I am just irreverent like that! I hope that they will blow that photo up huge and have is somewhere at HER wedding. Too funny! - These are all so beautiful and I do love all the cabiny goodness. That little chapel just screams wedding! It used to be where I dreamed of getting married and then later I dreamed that my daughter would get married there, but now I will just have to settle for seeing other beautiful people do it. Love living vicariously! Thanks for letting me! Your work is absolutely lovely!

carly - You hit this so far out of the park, I don’t even know what to say… Amazing!

Gail - How FUN are these?

Her dress? TO DIE FOR. And love the floral accents of his bow tie — those Southern gents..they rock the bow ties!

Laura - Gorgeous bride! Morgan you are incomprehensibly talented! I’m so lucky you’re shooting our wedding.

Katie - You and Kelly did such a fabulous job shooting our wedding! My yellow jacket reaction is priceless and I LOVE the one of my little cousin “digging for gold.” You two are so talented! I still can’t get over how you captured everyone so naturally, all the personalities were so palpable, and the emotions so true! :) Y’ALL ROCK!
