Kelly and John are just as cute as can be. The first time I talked to Kelly, we hit it off immediately. As she began describing her vision for an enchanted woodlands-themed wedding in October, I knew we were a perfect fit. She also told me of her deep and abiding love for Taylor Swift (only her happy love songs, though) and fairies, so going into shooting their engagement session last week, I created a vision in my mind of almost an editorial style shoot to mirror the song “Love Story,” a modern day Romeo and Juliet-esque love song. I don’t care what you think of T-Swift, I bet that somewhere deep inside of you, you think the song is pretty fantastic, so don’t judge. :) Anyway, the vision was made even more perfect by the setting we found (Ijam’s Nature Center, which was practically deserted and had too many wonderful nooks and crannies to list), the outfits they selected, and the van full of props they brought along. Kelly’s mom also came along to help out with the setup of the props and to assist with wardrobe malfunctions, and although I was a little nervous because I’ve never shot an engagement session with a parent present, it ended up being great to have her there, because Kelly and John were completely relaxed around her, and she helped us out so much. So thank you, Mrs. Carol!
I also adore how enthusiastic these two have been about hiring me. When I confirmed that their date was available, the next day they put their contract in the mail and took a picture:
How adorable is that?!! Also, before our session, Kelly wrote this on my Facebook wall: “Oh my goodness, I get to meet THE Morgan Trinker in 2 days! This could be the highlight of my whole summer!” After being treated like such a celebrity (ha!), I hope I don’t let you guys down. :)
Anyway, I’ll just go ahead and get to the goods. Suffice it to say that I’m in love with this session, and I had a terrible time trying to narrow down images to share with you here. I absolutely can’t wait for their October wedding! :)
All those lanterns? Yep, they brought those along and set them all up! We couldn’t have found a more perfect place to hang them.
This is probably my favorite. Their love for each other is so real and easy, and I love how that shows in this. (Well, and the light wasn’t too shabby either! ;) )
Kelly, when you get famous, this can be your album cover, ‘kay?
Then we headed on down Chapman Highway to Kay’s Ice Cream shop for a little colorful, retro fun.
Gorgeous.
Thank you all for such an amazing evening! I really hope you enjoy these!

How cute are all of those outfits?! My absolute fave is the one of them sitting and kissing by the shed. And I’m crazy about the the OCT and 22 shirts as well. And the tulle skirt. Awesome! Nice lensbaby action too.

wow. one of your best shoots yet! and by far my favorite ring picture that you’ve ever taken. the best rings really do seem like sundae toppers, don’t they?

Morgan, these are ridiculously fabulous!
The guitar/ring/hands pic is in the words of Rachel Zoe: bananas!
And I totally miss Kay’s!
Yeah, that ring shot is just kiiiiiiiiiiiller. I like to think I can tell when you had a lot of fun with your clients and this particular session, the fun and the playfulness, as well as the artistic exploration, EXUDES from these frame. Love, love, and more LOVE for these and for you, Mo. I bow down…
Morgan, loved everything about this session!! Location! Lanterns! Guitar! Ice Cream! Dreamy eyes! THE PHOTOGRAPHER! Theme! As in Taylor Swift’s words, “I wore a dress and he wore a dark, gray t-shirt…..looks like a fairytale!” :-) Amanda
What an ADORABLEEEEE couple!!! Already excited to see what these two pull off for their wedding day!
