Whitney and Hunter | I Do with a View

On Monday morning I got a text from my friend Kelly asking if I’d be interested in shooting two weddings with her that afternoon.

Crazy talk, right?

Well, this Valentine’s Day-inspired-marathon-love-fest is called I Do with a View, and it’s held every year on February 14 at the Vulcan Park here in Birmingham. (Believe it or not, Jamie and I have lived here for 7 months and STILL had never been up to the Vulcan, which is a pretty significant landmark, despite living literally half a mile down the road from it.) It’s an all-inclusive wedding package for couples who don’t necessarily have the time or energy to fool with all the details of a big shindig. It’s also a great idea for vow renewals, which is what one of the couples opted for that day. And getting married on Valentine’s Day at a place with the best views of the city as your backdrop? So sweet. Plus there were so many amazing vendors who came together to contribute their time and talent to make it a success, including GoPro Event Solutions, HotHouse Design Studio, Sonia Davis Design, Porcelain and Pink, Savoie Catering, Lucky Photography, and of course Kelly of Spindle Photography, along with several other great participants.

What was so interesting (and challenging, of course!) about shooting these two weddings back to back was that it was like cramming a 6-8 hour wedding day into literally a one hour or less time frame. So Kelly and I were shooting details, portraits, the ceremony, and the mini-reception (with a tiny cake cutting and passed hors-d’ouevres) at a sonic speed pace. And then after the first was finished, we turned to each other and were all, okay, let’s do this again in 30 minutes! Crazy!

So as not to make it too overwhelming, I’m just posting some images from the first wedding we shot, for Whitney and Hunter, an adorable and quintessentially Southern couple. Enjoy!

The news was there to cover the story… how fun!

How creative is Mandy of Hothouse Design Studio? She incorporated a pressed penny from the Vulcan museum into the groom’s boutonniere. I love it!

What a gorgeous bride…

Those bacon-cheddar biscuits with a dollop of bleu cheese on top? AMAZING.

And lastly… my fave….

Thanks so much to Kelly for asking me to come along, and to all the fabulous vendors and sweet couples who made the day so memorable.
