Jenna and Addison Get Married

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of shooting Jenna and Addison’s wedding at the Salt Lake City Temple and their ring ceremony and reception at The Canterbury Place in Bountiful, Utah. Despite it being my third wedding in less than a week, it was definitely a great one to be a part of. You might remember Jenna and Addison’s engagement session and Jenna’s bridal session, and if you do, you remember how much I love their down-to-earth and super fun personalities. So of course their wedding was great!

My friend Mike came along to shoot with me (what would I do without him and Sam?!), and our first surprise of the day was to find that the one and only Brody Dezember was there to do videography for the wedding. Brody is like, one of THE top wedding photographers in Salt Lake City. We’ve been following him for awhile now. When I saw him there, I thought he looked familiar, and then when I introduced myself and he told me his name, I ran over to Mike and was all, OHMYGOSH, Brody Dezember is here shooting this wedding. WITH. US. I couldn’t believe it. It was great because even though he’s one of the best, he was the most genuine and easy to talk to guy ever. Mike and I were in heaven because in between all the shooting, we got to chat with him and get pointers and talk shop. So thanks Brody!

But now, back to the wedding! We started the day in Temple Square, where the weather was lovely (despite being really hot!). On with the show!

Can you believe this is Jenna’s mom? These ladies are gorgeous!

Love this shot that Mike grabbed.

Yellow and green is a popular color combination this year!

Jenna’s grandmother made the cakes. So well done, and I love the personal touch!

Jenna and Addison met when they were serving their missions in Birmingham. What are the odds?!

One of my favorite ring shots ever. Thanks for your help on this one, Mike!

And this is one of my favorite shots in general. I noticed this little girl watching the ceremony from the window, and I just think it’s so dreamy. I wonder what was going through her mind when I took this…

When these two walked into the reception dressed as Harry and Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber I nearly died laughing. How awesome is this?!

And this is my favorite “catching the garter” shot. He totally caught it with his cane. Mad skillz.

I *heart* sparklers. :)

Thank you Addison and Jenna for asking me to be a part of your day! Congratulations to you both!

And now for the slideshow. You might notice something a little different- I’m just using one song and featuring the highlights of the day. I decided to make this change for several reasons. For one, I’ve been realizing that the only people who are watching a 20-minute slideshow in its entirety are the bride and groom and their parents, more or less. Let’s face it, most people just don’t have a long attention span, so I want to make these slideshows more accessible, so that when you’re sharing them with your friends and family online, they’ll be much more likely to watch it and get the highlights… enough to get a feel for the wedding without going through all the formal family portraits and whatnot. So don’t worry…. there are many more photos than what you see here, and I will also give you a gallery where you can see the entire set and share that as well. Also, it’s becoming harder and harder for me to select multiple songs for each slideshow and still keep it really personal (that’s a LOT of music!), so narrowing it down to one specific, special song will work better for me, and help me get your photos to you faster. :)

So, here is Jenna and Addison’s slideshow, which I set to Kenny Chesney’s “Me & You,” which was their first dance song. :) Enjoy!

These are beautiful! HOW did you do the frame shot? I think it’s my favorite!

@ Jenn : They had set up a photo booth that they had a couple of family members run… We just jumped in toward the end of the night to get a shot of the girls! The frames were hanging by fishing wire, and I just used my on-camera flash and edited it to look a little antique-y!

So,so pretty, fun, bright, colorful, joyful, loving. I am running out of adjectives for your work Morgan! What an adorable couple and fun wedding. I love the shot of them with a “sea of blue” in front of them. The first thought when I saw this pic was that famous pic of the Taj Mahal with the water in front. I too love the pic of the little girl in the window “dreaming about her Prince Charming. Reminded me of a scene you might see in a lovely British film.

Morgan, your work/art is amazing! It would be impossible to capture the events of the day any better. Excellent work, both of you.
