Jen + James // A Modern Music City Wedding

I love Jen and James. Seriously. When we first connected over email (thanks to a referral from my friends at Armosa Studios!), I knew we were going to get along swimmingly. We have really similar taste in music and design, and Jen is short like me and James is tall like my own husband which is always fun. :) And when I read that their wedding would be at this new venue called the Rosewall in Nashville, a city near and dear to my heart, where I was born and spent a lot of my time growing up… let’s just say it didn’t take long for me to know I pretty much HAD to shoot this one.

My bestie Kelly and I drove into town that gorgeous April morning, and immediately upon arriving at the recording studio where Jen’s dad works (how cool is that?), we were welcomed in like we had always known each other. Jen and James’s wedding party was one of the most fun I’ve ever gotten to spend a day with. It was mostly made up of couples who are all close friends with each other, and I love that I still see photos on their Instagram feeds all the time of the entire group hanging out (because yes, I *am* a stalker). It was like being in an episode of Friends. So much fun! And the rest of the wedding was so gorgeous. Loved all the shades of blush pink and coral and mint against the modern, industrial vibe of the Rosewall. Good memories!

Enjoy some highlights below!

Jen’s gift to James was this engraved Salemtown board. Here was a bride who knew her groom well. :)

THESE TWO ARE SO DANG CUTE.

Below is James with his grandmother. YEP!

Congratulations you two! And happy almost one year anniversary! :)

Stacia - I love the photo of them cutting the cake! Too much fun! Great job, as always, Morgan!

Elizabeth + Shelton // A Mountain View Wedding

Gorham’s Bluff is one of those wedding venues that, once you get out and see it in person, you can’t believe you didn’t know about it sooner. It’s only about an hour’s drive northeast of Birmingham, and you drive through some kinda strange areas to get there, but once you do, it’s like driving onto a movie set. Literally. My first thought was that we were on the set of The Truman Show. They’ve built this perfect getaway nestled in the mountains, with adorable little houses and cottages and cabins, with everyone’s bikes leaned up against their white picket fences, waiting for an adventure. And the main house and lawn, where weddings are typically held, offer up the most jaw-dropping views and scenery. Absolute perfection!

Liz and Shelton’s wedding was the perfect kind to have at a venue like this. These two are as laid back as they come, and they just wanted to create a whole weekend getaway for their family and friends to celebrate with them. Most of the guests rented out houses and stayed both nights, which allowed everyone to really be able to enjoy themselves. And the weather? Couldn’t have been better! There was a perfect almost-fall crispness to the air, and the sunset that day was particularly breathtaking… and just so happened to occur *right* during the ceremony. Talk about a magical backdrop.

My lovely friend Ali Thurwachter assisted me on this wedding, and I was so thankful for her talent and her company, especially on the drive home at 1:00 am! :) (I can’t believe I get to shoot HER wedding this July! #pinchme)

Enjoy some favorites!

One of the most wonderful moments of the day happened right after the ceremony. Liz is a veterinarian and an animal lover, so she arranged for one of her colleagues to transport two rehabilitated owls to be released back into the wild, and she and Shelton got to be the ones to do it. Everyone clapped and oohed and ahhed with glee as they flew off. So great!

Congratulations Liz + Shelton! You guys are awesome!

Sarah Gray - The owls brought tears to my eyes. I’m a sap for animals… And that was so perfect! Beautiful capture too. This scenery here is stunning.
