If you asked me to name the two people I know who love the city of Birmingham the most, my immediate answer would be our friends Samantha and Spencer. If there’s something happening in town, they’re almost always the first to know about it. And since Jamie and I are prone to being homebodies and spending our evenings watching stuff on Netflix, it’s been so great to have friends who are always inviting us to get out and do stuff (even if shooting weddings means I miss out sometimes). We met these two through our friends Kelly and Garrett, and we’ve loved getting to know them (and their “children” Raizyn and Miss Terry) over the past couple of years. Many a weekend I’ve come home to find Spencer and Jamie turning our kitchen into a beer-brewing laboratory, and though I’m not a beer person myself, their enthusiasm for it is contagious.
It was truly an honor to be able to second shoot their wedding last November for Kelly. It was so much fun to be able to photograph our friends’ wedding together, especially since Sam and Spencer made it such a cool wedding to photograph. Because they’re so passionate about supporting local businesses (and especially breweries!) and they have a strong love for their sweet home of Alabama, every detail reflected that and it was SO them. From the invitation designer (the amazing Yellowhammer Creative) to the reception venue (the one and only Good People Brewing Co.) to the catering (Bottletree Cafe- a Birmingham staple!) to the bluegrass band entertainment, the whole day was a celebration of not only their love for each other, but a love for their city. And it was perfect!
You simply must go check out Kelly’s recap of the day and all her gorgeous photos! A huge thank you to her for having me help out! But for now, here’s how I saw it through my lens…
Congratulations Samantha and Spencer! We love you guys!
