When I first met with Anna and her parents last year, I was instantly struck by how deep and authentic Anna’s love for her fiancé (at the time) Matthew is. She told me the story of how they dated and fell in love, and how, due to some medical issues, they had been postponing their wedding but had finally decided there was no point in waiting. If they were ready, then now was the time.
I don’t want to go into too much detail about what these two have been through together, because I do feel like a lot of it is so personal, but suffice it to say that Anna and Matthew’s love for each other is the kind of love we should all count ourselves lucky to find. There was so much joy on their wedding day that no amount of rainy forecasts or cloudy skies could put a damper on everyone’s excitement, and really, those are the best kinds of weddings. Besides, they picked such an incredible venue, The Donnelly House, that it would’ve been hard to make it all look anything less than gorgeous, no matter what the weather threw our way.
There were so many other things to love about this wedding, from Anna’s stunning Pronovias dress, to Anna and her sister dancing to “Going to the Chapel” in the bride’s room together, to the emotional walk down the aisle, to the final sendoff in a gorgeous classic car. But sometimes I feel like the photos do a better job of telling the story, so I’m going to let them do the talking…
(And a huge thank you to Mary Margaret Smith for second shooting… as always, you’ll see a few of her lovely captures sprinkled throughout!)
Anna specifically requested a bouquet of Lily of the Valley flowers, because that’s what her grandmother carried on her wedding day. What a special detail… and so cute!
Not gonna lie, you guys… I have a special place in my heart for red-lipped brides. :)
Anna and Matthew chose not to see each other before their ceremony, but they did want to have a moment together to pray and exchange gifts, so we Matthew around the corner and out of sight. I love that Anna gave him a scrapbook she had been keeping since they first began dating.
So. Many. Sweet. Moments.
It was almost dark by the time we got to do portraits of the two of them, but I’d say we managed pretty well. I basically just asked myself how much dress twirling we could squeeze into 10 minutes and rolled with it. :)
Congratulations Anna and Matthew on a wedding that was positively electric with joy and emotion! It was honor to capture it!
