When I first met Christy and Devin, I knew they were going to be SO much fun to work with. They both have great senses of humor and know how to have a good time, which I loooove in a couple. So for their engagement session, we decided to pay tribute to some of their favorites… getting coffee together, playing soccer (and from what I saw, they’re GOOD, too!), and just hanging out with each other. We met up on a gorgeous spring day, which just so happened to be the day in between Christy’s birthday and my birthday (Pisces represent!), and proceeded to run all over downtown as two of our planned locations were closed and we had to improvise. Luckily, we laughed the whole time, and Christy and Devin’s easygoing attitudes and sense of spontaneity and adventure ensured that it wasn’t stressful at all. And to be honest with you, I think our unplanned locations ended up being even better (isn’t that how it always seems to go?).
We started the day at one of my favorite Birmingham coffee shops, Urban Standard. If you’re on a scavenger hunt for all the hipsters in the city, consider this your one-stop shop. On any given day, you’ll walk in to find MacBook pros, Warby Parkers, and lattés galore. Apparently it’s not very hipster to openly admit you like something so hipster-friendly, but whatever. I totally do. PLUS, the ultra-cool interior is the perfect backdrop for photos, so I’m happy we got to take advantage. Without further ado…
One of Christy and Devin’s requests was that we do a “taking the plunge” photo as a possibility for their save-the-dates. Of course, I couldn’t just do the standard shots, so this is what I came up with…. :)
We ended the day at another one of my favorite places in the city: the view of downtown from The Club. I’ll never tire of those twinkly lights at dusk. :)
Congratulations Christy and Devin, and I’m so looking forward to your wedding this August! :)
