It’s no secret that I shoot a LOT of offbeat kinds of weddings, which I love, but I have to admit… sometimes I also just love an elegant ballroom-style wedding. A bride in a timeless dress, flower arrangements that never go out of style, a room with chandeliers and gorgeous murals, guests in tuxes and gowns… There’s something about these kinds of weddings that take me back to the days of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, when weddings were an occasion for really dressing up and going all out.
The best part about Jamie and Spencer’s wedding was that even though it had all the makings of a stunning and elegant affair, there was absolutely nothing stuffy about these two. They’re two of the most down-to-earth, go-with-the-flow kind of people, and to me, that’s one of the most important qualities to have on a wedding day, no matter what your style is. And talk about a gorgeous bride! Jamie looked amazing in her Nicole Miller dress, and the photos of her and her daughter Savannah, with their matching long red hair, are some of my favorites. Keep scrolling to see what I’m talking about!
Huge thanks to Mary Margaret Smith for second shooting (amazing as always) and to Louise, Katherine, and Neillie of Marieé Ami for making sure the entire event was beautiful and running smoothly all day long (brides, I highly recommend them if you’re in need of a fantastic planner!).
Even though it was March, it was one of the coldest days we’ve had this year… it even snowed a little for part of the day! Thankfully Jamie was willing to brave the bitter cold for some lovely outdoor portraits. I love how these turned out, and I’m so thankful for brides who trust me! :)
Gorgeous ladies, RIGHT?!
And Spencer’s not too shabby either… ;)
Kills me every time.
It only kept getting colder throughout the day, but luckily, we were able to snag a few brief moments outside for photos of the bride and groom.
You may recognize Michelle and Ed in the photo below… I shot their wedding back in October of 2011! Turns out Ed and Spencer are cousins… what a small world! :)
Below is one of my favorite photos of the day, hands down.
4 Barrel Funk did an amazing job entertaining everyone! One of the lead singers’ style reminded me a lot of Janelle Monae, which is pretty awesome.
Congratulations Jamie and Spencer! I had an amazing time photographing your big day!
April aka Boss Tart - Oh my word! The boys with the cake and their ties!!! So cute!
And Congrats on the St. Patrick’s Day post on GWS. Loved it!
