Charity + Reid // A Carnival-Themed Wedding

I totally feel like a broken record when I say this, but one of the things I love the most about shooting weddings is just getting to witness how different each one is. Each and every couple is so unique, and their weddings are the perfect vehicle for sharing their story with their friends and family (and of course the strangers like me who are allowed an insider’s glimpse- a backstage pass, if you will- into it all).

So when Charity first emailed me and shared the vision that she and Reid had for their wedding day, I was 100% on board after hearing the words “carnival” and “costumes.” As two people who met at an anime convention and ended up having their first kiss later that night at a costume contest, and who enjoy going to renaissance festivals and burlesque shows together, it just only seemed fitting that they would celebrate their marriage in such a fun way. In fact, my lovely second shooter Molly (of Simply M Photography) and I found ourselves having a hard time keeping up with all the references throughout the day, like the ring bearer’s Doctor Who sonic screwdriver (but don’t you worry, we got schooled really fast). However, there were some characters we recognized right away, like Belle (Charity’s best friend and maid of honor Glenda) and Rapunzel (another of Charity’s friends who MADE her crazy amazing braid out of faux hair… incredible). It was hard not to have a perma-smile around all the whimsy and fun!

And to make things even better, Charity and Reid are just the kindest people ever. They welcomed us in as part of the family from the moment we walked in, and it was an honor to document their wedding. :)

Enjoy!

Just love, love, love these portraits. Aren’t they adorable together?!

Congratulations and best wishes, you two! <3
