So last weekend, while we were at the Lowe Mill for the Hi Fi Fest, Kelly and I snuck outside a couple of times to shoot each other. It’s so nice when you have someone who understands what it’s like to sometimes want your OWN photo taken. I know, I know, it sounds really vain that a lot of times, when photographers get together, they end up shooting each other. But sometimes it gets old ALWAYS being behind the camera and not having someone around who is as enthusiastic about shooting you as you are about shooting them. And there are days when I wear something really cute and I’m all, dang, I wish I had someone here to take my picture. And again, I just think it’s healthy for us to be reminded how uncomfortable it can be, when you’re not sure what to do with your hands, or what face to make, or which side is your “good side.” It helps us refine our coaching skills, for sure.
Can I just say how happy I am to have made a friend in Kelly? It’s always so terrifying moving to a new place and not being sure if you’ll meet anyone who is like you, who you feel 100% comfortable with, who could become a TV-sitcom-kind-of-neighbor… you know, just showing up unannounced and it’s totally cool? Well, anyway, I’ve found that in Kelly. I just love this girl. We are so much alike it’s kind of scary. And just a few days ago, we embarked on a new entrepreneurial adventure together. We talked over the weekend about how ridiculous it is that Birmingham doesn’t have a wedding blog, a one-stop resource for hip brides and vendors. [I had noted this once to Jamie after we first moved here, and he immediately went to see if rollbride.com was available. Ha. He's so clever! ;) ] Anyway, Kelly has lots of blogging experience (check out Dash, Pinch, Smidgen), and we both are clearly obsessed with weddings, and we wanted a forum that facilitates a conversation, not just a bunch of vendors paying ridiculous amounts of money for ads and preaching at brides. We want to involve all sorts of local vendors, from boutiques to funky restaurants to cupcake bakeries to stationery stores, and we plan to do all sorts of fun stuff like giveaways, polls, how-to posts, vendor highlights, real bride experiences, etc. So visit us at Bham Bride, and if you’re here in Birmingham and want to pitch in and help us bring Alabama into 2011, email us at [email protected] to see how you can help!
Anyway, here’s Kelly! She’s the cutest. :)
