I was SO excited when local photographer and friend Taylor Haynie asked me to take some photos of her and her husband Bo, in honor of their 11th anniversary of being together, and just because they needed some new photos to hang on their wall. I originally met Taylor back in January at the bridal show, where she had come with her sister, who was planning her wedding. After the show, Taylor sent me an email, we met at Urban Standard for coffee shortly after, and have been friends ever since. Can I just say how much I love the photography community I’ve found here in Birmingham, especially among girls? I’ve met some of the greatest people here, and even though there will always be groups of photographers who like to be isolated, elitist, and grumpy in general, I’ve been really lucky to find just the opposite. It makes me so happy to know that there are always photographers I can call in an emergency, or meet up with to commiserate and share advice, or just to have fun with. And Taylor is one of those. So for her to trust me to capture her and Bo together was a big deal, and I’m really happy with what we got.
The location Taylor suggested was in Gallant, AL, which for those who don’t know…. is the country. Ha. And it couldn’t have been more perfect. All the land is owned by a man who runs the church on the property, and it included a big field, a dilapidated farmhouse, and all sorts of other visual treats. Even better? Both Taylor and Bo grew up close to the area, so it held a lot of meaning for them. They also brought along their sweet pup Chip, who is almost as old as their relationship. He was a little nervous about the whole thing, but I think he had fun. ;)
Hope you guys enjoy!
This is one of my favorites for sure. These two are like flipping models!
Laughing pictures are almost always my favorites. Taylor signs off all her emails with “Love Life,” so it’s only fitting that these photos reflect just how much they do love life.
Another favorite. I can’t BELIEVE we managed to get that moon in there! Perfection.
Taylor and Bo, it was so great to spend the afternoon with you! Your love is so real, and I’m glad to know you not only as peers, but as friends.
