One thing that struck me so much when I received Megan and John’s pre-wedding “getting to know you” survey I send out for every client was how Megan described their relationship:
“Well we are about as opposite as you can get but IT WORKS, so well! I am a high strung, OCD, over analyze everything freak. He is calm, relaxed and simple. I love to branch out and try interesting/funky foods and restaurants -he is a simple meat and potatoes and loves a chain restaurant. I love pretty little things and to decorate the house – he is still wondering what was wrong with his worn leather couch and dog chewed coffee table. I broaden his horizon and make him more apt to try new things and he brings me back to reality and keeps me mellow.”
Doesn’t it seem to ring so true about so many relationships? All the ways that partners enrich each others lives, broaden each other’s perspectives, reaching for the stars while keeping feet firmly planted on the ground. So beautiful.
It was a joy to photograph this absolutely stunning wedding. It’ll come as no surprise that Megan has a background in interior design once you get a glimpse of the rich blue ikat prints everywhere and the lush pink peonies paired with the super modern ghost chairs, all on display at one of the coolest venues I’ve seen, a rooftop in downtown Birmingham. Many thanks to the ladies at Invision Events for knocking it out of the park with planning and design on this one!
(Also…. the black limo? A few guys from the wedding party bought it off Craigslist, painted the whole thing with chalkboard paint, and scribbled all over it. The wedding party rode around in major style that day!)
