The scene that my friend and second shooter Meredith and I pulled up to on a gorgeous April day in Richmond was nothing short of something straight out of a movie. More specifically, the movie Father of the Bride. Bailey and her bridesmaids chose to get ready at her childhood home, and it couldn’t have been more picturesque, right down to the picket fence out front and the tulips blooming in the yard.
Even better? The neighborhood children were ecstatic about the whole celebration. They (not-so-patiently) kept popping over the fence and knocking on the back door to check on the progress of Bailey getting into her wedding dress. At one point they even went inside and changed into their best dress-up clothes– including child-sized wedding dresses of their own!– and came back to surprise Bailey with homemade cards. (Check out the “Tim and Bailey at last!” inscription on the card in photos below…. heart melt.) It was just too precious for words.
So much happiness and emotion in these photos that I am instantly transported back to the feeling of total exhilaration as the events of the day unfolded… from Bailey’s stunning floral dress to the high church ceremony to the ultra chic oyster bar situation at the Country Club of Virginia later in the evening. So many things to remember fondly about this day.
Many thanks as always to the incomparable Dickie of Just a Little Ditty for pulling together every last detail and connecting me with this beautiful couple in the first place. Enjoy!
