Last Friday afternoon, I was sitting at my computer, editing away, and the rain clouds rolled in. And then the thunder started. Normally, I would be all, suhweeeet, because I love storms and they’re few and far between here in Utah. But it just so happened that I had scheduled a family session with the Dipos for later that day. Outdoors. At Wheeler Farm. Yikes! However, I said a little prayer and had faith that the clouds would part when they needed to, because that’s generally what happens with rain here. So I got in the car and began to drive, and even as I pulled into the parking lot, raindrops were pounding my windshield. But I was determined. We could do this. If the Dipos were still in, I was still in. So I ran out to meet them, and we literally huddled together under an awning, singing songs about Mr. Sun coming out, until, 10 or 15 minutes later, it happened. The rain stopped. And we did a little dance and started shooting! Hooray! I love the challenge of using whatever light and location I’m given, so while some may have been deterred by the overcast skies, I was actually kind of excited about them, because they gave us some lovely soft light to work with.
And did it hurt that this family is cute as a BUTTON? Not one bit! Thank you guys for such a fun time… hope you enjoy the photos!

Little Hazel could seriously be a baby model. I don’t think I’ve ever been around a happier or better-behaved child. Literally, throughout the entire session, she did not once cry or fuss. Not ONCE. In fact, most of the time she was giggling and cooing and at the very least smiling. I wanted to steal her. :)

Eloise, Hazel, and Noah all together. I LOVE sibling love… even if it IS followed by running and crying. ;)

I’m SO glad I caught this. Noah was talking softly to this rabbit and wiggling his nose with his finger to mimic what the rabbit was doing. So precious.

When I saw Eloise’s cowgirl boots, I KNEW she was a girl after my own heart!

WARNING: More major cuteness ahead!

One of my very faves. THIS is why the overcast skies worked so well. This shot to me is so dreamy and peaceful.

Then I pulled Mom and Dad away for a few of just the two of them.

Ahhhh! Love it!

Another very fave. Such a sweet brother and sister moment. :)

And one last family shot! The last of the day, and also a favorite. Love when that happens. :)

And now for the slideshow…. I used Lady Antebellum’s “American Honey.” Now, let me just say that normally I HATE new country music. Give me Johnny, give me Dolly, give me Loretta, give me Hank…. but keep me away from Kenny Chesney! However, I will eat my words, because the first time I heard this song, I adored it. And I thought it was a good fit for this shoot, because of the summer-y, country feel of it. Hope you think so too. :)
